The post that I wrote on a perspective on eating what you want sparked a real debate and some lengthy and thought out comments, and it was clear this topic raised some considerations for us all.
A recent comment has just been added from poster Not Hungry But... who, being a few more years down the line with intuitive eating than myself and most of the people who read this site (I think!), has clearly got a lot of experience.
Not Hungry But... says "A few months ago, after experimenting with food and ex-forbidden foods, I came to the same conclusion: respecting ourselves and our bodies is what this is all about, really.
"Our issues are not about food but about ourselves. The day we decide we deserve to be treated well 'by ourselves' is the day we decide to treat OUR BODIES well, with respect, and therefore it is the day we can finally eat normally - 90% good, nutritious food, and 10% 'fun food'."
I couldn't agree more, to be honest. I really want to focus on the mindset of treating myself in the absolute best possible way I can, because I deserve it.
Thank you so much for linking to my blog, Andrea. And I'm glad you agree with what I wrote. I think it's a sign of HUGE progress when we're not obsessed with our weight and/or food any more, but instead just want to be nice to ourselves and be the best we can be.
We deserve it, we're worth it!
