Yesterday I had my personal fitness session with David and I've woken up today not only feeling physically intact (phew), but I have to admit, feeling pretty good.
We had a good chat about why I was so out-of-action in the week. I'll make no bones about it, it basically comes down to me being about as fit as Bernard Manning, and although I'm making a huge assumption on Bernie's level of muscle-training, I'd take a fair bet that it isn't high. (Of course, David didn't say that to me - I'm letting my writer's prerogative for artistic license run wild. Imagine? David: "Do you know, you're about as fit as Bernard Manning?" Me: "Ah. I see your point.").
No lunges this time, but some intermittent brisk walking and running on the treadmill at different speeds, which got the blood flowing and apparently is a better way to train because you're not allowing you body to get used to just one level, which doesn't allow for progress. We also did some work on the exercise ball - a new one for me. Good though, quite gentle and relaxing at the same time as exercising.
Being a bit of a nerd at heart, I ask for all the details about what it is exactly it is we're doing and why, although David does offer this information anyway as part of his training philosophy, but on a less nerdy level (he knows all the extra nerdy details should you require them, as I do). I like David's style of educating through the session, there is no doubt that understanding what is happening and why you're doing what you're doing you encourages you to want to take your fitness seriously (and enjoy it).
So, I'm looking forward to my next session considerably - although it is a shame it is a week away as I've got a full diary. I have a Tai Chi class on Monday though, which will keep me limbered up, and will do some of the stretches that David showed me so everything stays flexible for next Friday.
It's good to hear that you are enjoying your workouts. I love working out myself and I always feel great afterwards. I'm glad you also found a personal trainer you like.

I've never worked with a personal trainer before Bliss Chick so it is a new experience - very enjoyable!
