Can you really have fifty cream doughnuts sitting in your fridge without being on a mission to get all lardy for the coming winter?
Every dieter has her fear-food, the one
that will cause her willpower to crumble and will leave crumbs scattered around
the fridge, because she couldn’t wait for the plate. Mine is egg custard. Not
strictly forbidden, but I normally finish off a full family pie in a day
because it’s just too irresistible to leave in my fridge and I see it as a
TREAT. So, in true Beyond Chocolate stylee, I went out and bought three large,
deliciously eggy tarts (talking of delicious egg custards, have a look here at
Hermione’s Egg Custard Pie, as pictured above, I’m going to have to make it!) to deal with my
‘fear’ of this ‘forbidden food’.
It was a rubbish attempt really - I could have done with buying ten pies at least. Authors Sophie and Audrey Boss say that you need to stock abundant quantities of a yummy stuff that you’re scared of so that you’ve
got far too much to eat, which will help rid the food of its ‘personality’ and
dispense with the treat mentality. For example, I used to think it was ‘bad’ to
eat a full egg custard instead of something ‘proper’ (oh, moderation and all
that garb!) but I’m learning that no food is good or bad, they’re just foods,
and the more in tune I become, the more I can trust my own body to decide what
I do or don’t need. I hope.
What it boils down to is I needn’t give a toss if I eat a full egg custard for my breakfast and lunch one day, and then some more for my tea. I won’t do it forever, and this is the way to get over it being a ‘banned’ food. But I’m still a bit worried that if I pack my fridge with tempting morsels I won’t be able to stop. Other things I love but dare not (normally) have in include:
Greek full-fat yogurt and honey (ooooooh yum!)
Cream doughnuts (now I sound like Homer Simpson)
Clotted cream to have with anything (but especially scones and jam)
Buttery white bread toast (simple comfort food)
The thought of filling my fridge with cream doughnuts is a wonderfully liberating concept and I’m just plucking up to this at the moment. Imagine? Just having cream doughnuts to eat all day and not feeling an ounce of guilt about it! I’ll keep you posted.
Andrea, me like! Enjoyed reading your entries and I think you're onto something--it's so hard, isn't it? Hmm--now I have to try me an egg custard to see what it's all about! Keep up the good work!

Adam, you'll love egg custard, I'm sure. Get baking!

I've tried this before, partially inspired by a Men Behaving Badly quote ("When there's always biscuits in the tin, what's the point of biscuits?") and partly by a weight-loss memoir I read a few years ago (and have unfortunately forgotten the title of).
Seems I will not rest until I have eaten every biscuit I've bought. Perhaps I'll go to CostCo and buy more biscuits than I could ever possibly eat. Or perhaps not.

To buy in more than you could ever eat is quite a scary idea, isn't it Keris? It is still something I'm working on - I don't think three egg custards were enough!

See, I don't really believe there is any amount that's more than I could eat. I feel like even if I filled the front room with biscuits I would just systematically much my way through (aided, no doubt, by small son). I know this can't really be true, I just need to get past it.

We've found an answer for you, but none for us, yet. There are countless of brands and options out there, It will not matter how many questions you ask yourself, there will not be enough of them to point you to a single TV-set. Going to the movie theatre and watching a movie is time consuming and you have to spend time and effort as well.

The computer must have a video card with TV- Out connector. For instance, if you wish to watch movies of a particular actor or actress, then you don't need to get panic. Where as some of these websites allow you to watch movies online instantly without downloading them.
