Has summer arrived?

Garden_tourOh my god - the weather is bizarre! And very beautiful - but yesterday I was out with nothing but a thin long-sleeved top and there were people out in t-shirts! This is FEBRUARY! Two weeks ago we had snow, and now we have ice-cream suggestive sunshine!

It looks like today is going to be another warm one and I was just reading on Yahoo that Manchester, for once, is one of the areas that these unprecedented temperatures are being recorded (it's the hottest ever, apparently).

Anyway, enough of my weather-reporting already! But this sun does make me feel like eating salad and fresh, cool food, as opposed to winter stodge and vegetable broths. I did a rather nice lentil and bacon broth the other day, actually, in an effort to cook up something warming, and now I want to do the opposite!

I think it's funny how the weather can affect your eating habits on top of everything else. Is it a completely psychological thing, or are we also sensitive to seasonal change because (at one time) there would have only been certain foods we could eat depending on the season? Some food for thought.

Don't know when this entry was written but it appears that Summer has taken one look...and said "bye, I'm out of here"!
I'm in London where it is beautifully sunny today but freeeeeeeeezzzzzing cold! Apparently the temperature is due to go down to minus 1 tonight as well!!
Still - it is seasonable weather I suppose!!

Haha! It is still lovely and sunny here, though it has got a bit nippier (i.e. freezing!), but last week it was t-shirt weather for a good few days! Not often we Mancs get better weather than you Londoners though.

Make the Most of it, Andrea - especially if it's not raining!!
