Music Review: Eyes Open - Snow Patrol

I bought this for 'Chasing Cars' because I love the simple yet powerful lyrics on the track. I was hoping the rest of the album would dutifully follow with other good stuff. It still could, I suppose, I've only listened about three times so far, but in true Snow Patrol stylee, the whole sound currently appears to be blending into one. I had feared this would happen. I love many of Snow Patrol's released recordings, but album-wise I think it takes some time to pick out what's good on the CD.

However, I have to be honest, writing music reviews seems to be one of my talents 'to develop' (did ya notice?)! I'm just including this 'cos I've just bought the album and fancied mentioning it.

10th October: To update, I have to say I really love this album now! A special favourite is track 8, 'Set The Fire To The Third Bar' with Martha Wainwright. Beautiful lyrics and melody. You do get the impression though that is a lot of to-ing and fro-ing between heartache and being in lurrve through the whole album, though. I don't think singer and lyricist Gary Lightbody can make his mind up where he's at.
